In the 1988-90 period the [[American Trucking Associations]] was run by [[Thomas J Donohue]], the sixth richest lobbyist in the USA. He earned $3.7 million a year, had a chauffeur driven Lincoln and his own private jet.  He also ran the [[CART]] operation and a half-dozen others.

The ATA was the largest national trade association for the trucking industry in the United States, representing over 37,000 members.
