{{#Badges:CoalSwarm|navbar-Indiacoal}} Bela power station (Mantri Power) is a proposed coal plant in Maharashtra, India.

Background

Bela power station (Mantri Power) is a proposed 540 megawatt (MW) coal plant in Maharashtra state, India.

The sponsor of the project, Mantri Power, is a subsidiary of the Mumbai-based Mantri Realty Limited. The project will be located at Bela, approximately 40 kilometres away from Nagpur. The Purti Group is a 25% shareholder in Mantri Power.[1]

A 2007 report on the proposed Bela power station stated that "around 60% of the power generated will be supplied to the state power utility, while 25% would be sold to other buyers across the state. The rest will be kept for domestic consumption in the company's projects".[1]

The contract for the main plant package was won by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited in May 2009.[2]

The status of the project is not confirmed. Wikimapia shows "Mantri Power Project" at 20°48'23"N 79°3'7"E; however, no major buildings appear to have been constructed.[3]
