Background

Meenakshi Energy Thermal Power Project is a multi-phase coal project being implemented by Meenakshi Energy in Andhra Pradesh. The first 540 megawatt (MW) unit was completed in December 2010.[1] The second unit of 150 MW is projected by the Central Electricity Authority (September 2012) to be commissioned in November 2012.[2] Phase II consists of Units 3 and 4, each of 350 MW. It is scheduled for completion in late 2013 and early 2014.[2]
