Background

Bhadravati power station (Ispat) is a proposed coal plant in Bhadravati, Maharashtra state, India. In an interview with NDTV, Atulya Mittal, senior executive for brand development at Ispat Industries, said that given the power shortage in the country, the company had decided to fast-track the project and was looking for a strategic partner. According to Mittal, the company still had the original coal linkage. According to a report in the Times of India, Ispat Group had purchased 530 hectares of land after keeping the plans on hold since the 1990s. A report in the Financial Express placed the size of the project at 2000 MW.
