{{#Badges:CoalSwarm|navbar-Indiacoal}} Vemavaram power station is a proposed 1,320-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Location

The map below shows the location of the project in Vemavaram village, Thondangi taluk, East Godavari district, where the plant will be built.

Background

The project would require 700 acres, which are currently private lands held by large families. The coal source would be based on a 70:30 ratio of domestic and imported coal dependent on supply from Coal India; if supply is not available, all coal would be imported. Water for the project would be sourced from the sea and a desalination plant.[1]
