David F. Rosen, President and CEO of the The Competence Group/Chicago, Inc. in Chicago's Lincoln Park, raised "tens of millions of dollars for the Gore-Lieberman ticket, Hillary Clinton's Senate race and other prominent Democratic candidates." [1][2]

Hillary Clinton Election Campaign

The chief finance director for Hillary Clinton's 2004 election campaign for New York Senator, Rosen now "faces trial for causing false donation and expenditure reports to be filed with the Federal Election Commission in connection with a Clinton fund-raising gala at Hollywood in August 2000." [3]

"Vetting" Campaign Donors

"Dem attorney general candidate Lisa Madigan's enhanced internal operation to weed out controversial campaign donors puts much of the responsibility on Chicago-based fund-raiser David Rosen. Other clients of Rosen's firm, called the Competence Group, include gubernatorial candidate Rod Blagojevich, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and California Gov. Gray Davis. Democratic out-of-state fund-raising for Florida

"The party's out-of-state fundraising will be run by the Competence Group, a Chicago company formed in January and run by David Rosen, who headed up out-of-state fundraising for the November 2000 campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y. Rosen said that Clinton raised approximately $20 million in both hard and soft money from outside the Empire State last year, and he hoped to raise anywhere from $7 million to $10 million in soft money for Florida Democrats for 2002."
