CMD's Mary Bottari Wins National Award for Tracing the Money Behind Plot to Kill unions
The Center for Media and Democracy, publishers of SourceWatch.org, are happy to announce that our reporter Mary Bottari won the March Sidney Award from the Sidney Hillman Foundation for her article “Behind Janus: Documents Reveal Multi-Decade Plot to Kill Public Sector Unions,” published by In These Times. The award recognizes journalism in the public interest.
The Supreme Court is currently deliberating Janus v. AFSCME, a case that could decimate public sector unions in America. The lead plaintiff, Mark Janus, is an Illinois child-support worker who ostensibly doesn’t want to pay union fees, but the money and strategy behind the lawsuit came from a network of right-wing think tanks and foundations profiled in SourceWatch.

The Center for Media and Democracy publishes SourceWatch to track corporations.
We provide well-documented information about corporate public relations (PR) campaigns, including corporate front groups, people who "front" corporate campaigns, and PR operations. Please visit SourceWatch's sister websites EXPOSEDbyCMD, to find our investigations and original documents we release, PRWatch, to read our original reporting, and ALECexposed, to see our award-winning investigation of a corporate front group where corporate lobbyists actually vote as equals with elected legislators on "model" legislation to change our rights. Also, please check out the in-depth research from around the world by our partner projects within SourceWatch: Coal Swarm, and FrackSwarm. |
