Background

Meghavaram Kakarapalli power station is a 450 megawatt (MW) coal plant proposed by Meghavaram Power in Andhra Pradesh. In December 2011, The Hindu reported that the plant had been placed on hold "because of agitations at Sompeta and Kakarapalli."
