Proposed 800 MW expansion

According to a January 2012 report posted on the website Industry Monitor, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to make use of vacant space at three existing power plants in order to build an additional 2,400 MW of capacity. The three plants are Vijayawada station, the Krishnapatnam power station, and the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station. At the Vijayawada station, the government proposes an 800 MW expansion on 50 acres of wasteland adjacent to the current site.
