Background
In April 2013 Turkish industrial firm Teknotes signed an agreement to build a 320MW lignite-fired power plant and expand a mine in Despotovac. The deal was between Teknotes, the mayor of Despotovac, and the director of state-owned lignite mining firm Resavica. Investment in the project is expected to total over $700 million. A new pit at the Rembas mine will be developed to supply the power plant.[1]
