Background
Bander power station is a proposed coal-fired power station in Andhra Pradesh, to be developed in three phases by Thermal Powertech Corporation. Phase I (2 units of 660 MW) and II (one unit of 660 MW) received an environmental permit in 2009,[1] and Phase III (one unit of 660 MW) a terms of reference in 2010 for applying for one.[2]
As of 2014 Thermal Powertech Corporation's website only mentions the first phase (1320 MW). It appears that Phases II and III have been abandoned.[3] Phase I is under construction,[4] and planned for operation in 2015.[5]
Unit 1 went into commercial operation in April 2015, and unit 2 in September 2015.[6][7]
