Background

The first unit is 43 MW and began operating in 2008. In 2011, KSK Energy Ventures stated that an "additional 43MW unit for the existing Arasmeta power plant is scheduled to be commissioned during April 2011," and that the plant will "meet the additional energy requirements of Lafarge for the expansion of its cement plant in Sonadih and for its planned cement manufacturing facility in Chhattisgarh." The company also states that it intends to source coal for the expansion from "Arasmeta special purpose vehicle (SPV)’s existing fuel access from South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL)."

In early 2011 KSK commissioned the 43 MW Arasmeta Expansion power plant. The company stated that it intends to source coal for the expansion from "Arasmeta SPV’s existing fuel access from SECL."
