Maharjapur power station

Location

The power station is proposed to be near the villages of Bajakheda, Singhpur, Marapurva, Mukharra, and Tattam in Maharajpur taluk. The map below shows the location of Mukharra and Singhpur (Singpur) villages, the approximate location where the plant would be built.

Background

The power station was initially proposed to be built near the viillages of Devari, Dagdauwa, and Harda, in Naurojabad Tehsil, near the Bandhavgarh National Park, but the Ministry of Environment and Forests noted in 2010 that the proposed site shifted 7 kilometres to the south. The Ministry lists the project in a review of mining projects which could affect the habitat of tigers.

The project was considered for a terms of reference on Apr 4, 2011 and the ToR was issued on May 13, 2011.

However, as of August 2015 the project has yet to receive environmental clearance, and appears to have been abandoned.
