Kamdara power station

Location
The project was proposed to be located between the Turundu and Pokla railway stations near Kamdara, Gumla district, Jharkhand. The map below shows the location of Pokla but not the exact location of the project.
Background
Kamdara power station was originally planned for Chandil in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. However, in early November 2011 the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) decided that due to lack of water for the plant, the project would to shifted to Kamdara in Gumla district, Jharkhand state, India.[1]
As of August 2014, the project is listed on the JSEB website in connection with the Maurya coal block: "Maurya coal block linked with M/S KEL, a SPV to run 2X660 MW plant at Kamdara in Gumla. 60% Power is allocated to Jharkhand, 25% to Bihar and 15% to U.P. Consultant – M/s PFC."[2]
However, as of April 2015 the project has yet to receive environmental permits and appears to be abandoned - or may have become the proposed 2,640 MW Kamdara power station (Jindal) sponsored by Jindal Power.
Water
According to an article in the Telegraph: "Water from Chandil dam has already been allocated by authorities to various industrial, irrigation and other projects located downstream under the Subernarekha Multi Purpose Project (SMP). The proposed thermal power plant would require at least 40 million cubic metres of water." To supply the project, a reservoir will be built near Blaghat across river South Koel.[1]
Land
The project will need 70 to 100 acres. According to the Telegraph, "talks were on with the Gumla district administration to acquire land for the project."[1]
