Background on Plant
The two existing coal-fired units of Weishanhu Yanshanhu power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online between 2011 and 2012. The plant is owned by CPI. CPI is currently planning to build four additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 4,000 MW.[1]
Proposed expansion
Long-term plans call for an additional four units of 1,000 MW each.[2] However, there has been no developments of the plan, and they appear to be deferred or abandoned.
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[3]
