Background

JSW Energy had an agreement with the government of Gujarat to develop a 1400 MW coal plant at Junagadh. In 2009, the company changed the proposal to a 2400 MW plant at Dahej, with a 1600 first phase and an 800 MW second phase. JSW estimated using 1,500 acres of land for the project.[1] JSW Energy applied to the state government and to the ministry of coal for the allotment of land for a long-term coal linkage for the project: the company said it will import coal from Indonesia and Mozambique, and use the Dahej Port for coal imports.[1]

Subsequent to 2009, there is no further information on this project, including no mention on the JSW Energy website as of August 2014. It appears to have been abandoned after 2009.
