Background on Project

According to WRI's 2012 "Coal Risk Assessment," China Datang is currently planning to build a coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 2,400 MW in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.[1]

Chinese sources describe a 2 x 660 MW addition to an existing plant.[2] This may refer to the 2,400 MW Duolon power station (多伦电厂) at 42.2123405, 116.577065. According to Wikipedia (with no sources cited), 4 x 600 MW is operating and an additional 2 x 600 MW is planned.[3] However, as shown in the photo above, there appear to be five operating units at the plant's location, rather than the four units described in Wikipedia.

There has been no news of the proposed expansion since 2011,[2] and the additional units appear to be cancelled.
