Ntombifuthi Mtoba
"Dr Ntombifuthi Mtoba is president and founder of TEACH South Africa, an organisation recruiting skilled teachers in the areas of Maths, Science, Technology and English for underprivileged schools. Mtoba serves as chairperson of council at the University of Pretoria, a position she has held since 2008. She is the former president of Business Unity South Africa. Mtoba is a qualified chartered accountant and is the past chairperson of Deloitte Southern Africa.
"She joined Deloitte in 1988 and advanced in the company, becoming the first black female partner, and subsequently the chairperson. This made her the first black woman to be appointed partner in one of the big four accounting firms in South Africa. She sits on various community engagement boards, including the Nepad Business Foundation, Nelson Mandela Foundation, Allan Gray Orbis Foundation and the National Education Collaboration Trust. She is also a member of the IMF Advisory Group for Sub-Saharan Africa, and the WEF Global Agenda Council on Transparency and Anti-Corruption.
"She has led a number of organisations, including the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of Southern Africa, a body dedicated to nurturing emerging black accountants. Mtoba was named the South African Businesswoman of the Year in 2004. The Organisation of Women in International Trade – United States named her the International Woman of the Year in 2005. She was awarded an honorary doctorate in accountancy by the University of Limpopo in 2014."[1]
