J. George Harrar

J. George Harrar was the director of the Rockefeller Foundation's Mexican Agricultural Program (MAP), which later came to be known as the Green Revolution[1] Harrar completed his PhD at the University of Minnesota, where he studied under plant pathologist Elvin C. Stakman, a man who was influential in the early stages of the Mexican Agricultural Program. He was appointed as director of MAP in 1943 and later, in 1951, he was promoted to Deputy Director of the Rockefeller Foundation's newly renamed Division of Natural Sciences and Agriculture.[2]
