CR Changzhou power station (国电常州发电公司) is a 1,260-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Jiangsu Province, China.

Two additional units have been proposed at the same location.

Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Changzhou power station, totaling 1,260 MW, were brought online in 2006.[1]

Description of Expansion

China Guodian is is planning to add two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total capacity of 1,320 MW.[2]

However, with no development since July 2014, the proposal appears to be shelved.

Ownership

On August 28 2017, China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) announced that China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group will be jointly restructured. Shenhua Group will become China National Energy Investment Group and will absorb China Guodian Corporation. It will be the largest power company in the world by installed capacity, as well as the world's largest coal producer.[3][4] The merger was completed on November 28, 2017.[5]
