- Since 1993, the Clearinghouse for Environmental Education, Action and Research (CLEAR) has tracked the industry-supported backlash against environmentalism, commonly called the "Wise Use" Movement, a loosely-knit network of anti-environmental organizations that seeks to roll back or weaken laws that protect wildlife, habitat, and public lands, as well as health and safety standards for our water, food and air. Until 1999, CLEAR also maintained a database of funders, individuals and groups involved with the anti-environmental movement. That database is not currently running, but a great deal of useful information can still be found on their website and on their old site hosted by the Environmental Working Group.
