Background on Plant
Shimen power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,200 MW. The plant was completed between 1996 and 2006. The plant is owned by Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group (54%), China Datang (42%), Hunan Detai Coal Industry Company (4%).[1][2][3]
Expansion
In July 2019, it was reported that a 4 x 660 MW expansion at the power station was planned and included in the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Electric Power Development" of Hunan Province (2021-2025). Pre-feasibility studies are underway.[4]
