Datang Huaibei power station (大唐淮北发电厂) is a 210-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Anhui Province, China.

Background on Plant

Units 1-7 of Datang Huaibei power station, totaling 950 MW, were brought online between 1973 and 1993 and were retired from 2007-2008. Only the 210MW Unit 8 is operating, a subcritical unit commissioned in 2005. The plant is owned by China Datang.

Description of Expansion

To meet the requirement of "Suspension of smaller units to build bigger ones" policy, Datang Huaibei Power Station shut down its 1-7 subcritical units in 2007. In 2010, the NDRC approved the expansion project of Datang Huaibei Power Station, which relocated in Lieshan District, Huaibei Prefecture, 30km away from the old site. The total capacity of the new power units is 1,320 MW (2*660MW). The expansion project went operation in 2013. The relocated units are also called Huaibei Hushan power station, or Datang Hushan Power Station. It is actually the new site of Datang Huaibei Power Station.
