Jiangsu Nantong power station (华能国电江苏南通发电公司), also known as the Huaneng Nantong power station, is a 3,050-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Jiangsu Province, China.

Background on Plant
Jiangsu Nantong power station is a 3,400 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in the prefecture of Nantong, China. The four units of Nantong-1 and -2, totaling 1,400 MW, were completed between 1989 and 1999.[1] The two-unit Nantong-3, totaling 2,000 MW, was completed in 2014.[2][3] The generation license for Jiangsu Nantong-1 unit 1 was cancelled in October 2019, leaving 3,050 MW.[4]
The Tianshenggang power station, a 660-MW coal-fired plant about a kilometer to the west, is owned by Nantong Tianshenggang Power Generation.[5] Nantong Tianshenggang Power Co. is affiliated with Guodian Longyuan Power and Huaneng Nantong Subsidiary under China Huaneng Group.[6]
Ownership
On August 28, 2017, China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) announced that China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group will be jointly restructured. Shenhua Group will become China National Energy Investment Group and will absorb China Guodian Corporation. It will be the largest power company in the world by installed capacity, as well as the world's largest coal producer.[7][8] The merger was completed on November 28, 2017.[9]
