Huaneng Shantou Haimen power station (华能汕头海门电厂) is a 4,144-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Guangdong Province, China.

Background on Plant

The four existing coal-fired units of Huaneng Haimen power station, totaling 4,144 MW, were brought online between 2009 and 2013. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.

The MEPC rejected units 3&4 's EIA approval in November 2011, citing the power station was operating before its EIA clearance, and its insufficient environmental facilities. Units 3&4 received NDRC permit for construction in April 2013. At the same month, it went operating. Huaneng recently built two additional coal-fired units at this plant (included in the above total), with a total capacity of 2,072 MW. The new units were completed in 2013.
