Hollings Center
The Hollings Center (known formally as the International Center for Middle Eastern-Western Dialogue) "is a new organization whose mission is to provide a forum for ongoing interaction and dialogue between citizens of the United States and Muslim-majority countries on key issues of mutual concern, in order to open and reinforce channels of communication and deepen understanding between the U.S. and the Muslim world.
"The Center was established by the U.S. Congress, through the efforts of Sen. Ernest Hollings (D-SC, ret.) and Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), as part of the State Department appropriations bills for 2004 and 2005. Congress created an endowment for the Center, with the interest and earnings supporting the Center’s operations and programs." [1]
Worked with Search for Common Ground to organize the Meeting of Key Middle Eastern and Western Television Professionals, February 2006. [2]
"The Center is directed by Amy Hawthorne. Ambassador Nicholas Veliotes is the chairman of the Center’s steering committee." [3]
