Jim Levitt
Jim Levitt "directs the Program on Conservation Innovation at the Harvard Forest, a Harvard University research facility based in Petersham, Massachusetts. He is also a Research Fellow at the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and the editor of two books, From Walden to Wall Street (Island Press/Lincoln Institute, 2005) and Conservation in the Internet Age (Island Press 2002). In January 2009, Jim organized an international research conference on "Conservation Capital in the Americas," held on the campus of the Universidad Austral de Chile, that brought together more than 100 senior practitioners, academic experts and students from across the western hemisphere. In the past several years, Jim has made several trips to Patagonia, and plays a key role in strategic conservation planning for Patagonia Sur Foundation, as well as Patagonia Sur LLC. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and the Quebec-Labrador Foundation/Atlantic Center for the Environment. Jim Levitt holds a B.A. , cum laude, with distinction in Anthropology from Yale College, and a Master’s degree in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management (SOM). He was recently named a Donaldson Fellow by SOM, honoring a career which "exemplifies the mission of the school."" [1]
