Shenhua Jinjiang power station (神华晋江热电) is a 100-megawatt (MW) coal-fired co-generation power plant in Fujian Province, China.

An additional 700 MW is proposed.

Background on Project

The two existing units of Shenhua Jinjiang power station, totaling 100 MW, were put into operation in 2006. It was originally owned by Shenhua Fujian Energy of Shenhua Group.

Expansion

According to the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission (August 2015), there is a 2 x 350 MW expansion proposed for the power station. It would be co-generation.

The EIA for the units was approved in May 2016, although as of December 2019 has yet to receive the NRDC permit.

2016: Nationwide Restrictions and Exemptions

Restrictions on coal plant development were announced in 2016-2017 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission. However, the restrictions exempted combined heat and power plants like Shenhua Jinjiang power station. Further, the plant was included in the 2016 provincial plan, which the province also exempted from restrictions on new coal plants.
