Background on Plant

A Terms of Reference (TOR) for the proposed power plant was approved by India's Ministry of Environment and Forests in May 2010. In February 2011, a final draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was issued for the power station. Environmental clearance (EC) was issued in November 2012.

According to a 2014 investment report on the company, the total project cost for "Phase I has witnessed cost overruns and is currently estimated at about Rs. 7,700 crore."

There have been no new developments since the 2012 EC, and the project appears to be deferred or abandoned.
