Background on Plant

A Terms of Reference (TOR) for the proposed power plant was approved by India's Ministry of Environment and Forests in May 2010. In February 2011, a final draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was issued for the power station.[1] Environmental clearance (EC) was issued in November 2012.[2]

According to a 2014 investment report on the company, the total project cost for "Phase I has witnessed cost overruns and is currently estimated at about Rs. 7,700 crore."[3]

There have been no new developments since the 2012 EC, and the project appears to be deferred or abandoned.
