Background on Plant

Dwarkesh Energy Limited proposes to set up a 1320 MW supercritical coal-based power plant in District Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. JK Organization's JK Lakshmi Cement Limited signed an MOU for the power station with the government of MP in 2010, but later requested transfer of the project to Dwarkesh Energy. A coal agreement of 5 million metric tons a year has been signed with Adani Mining for imported coal until allocation of a domestic linkage with the India Ministry of Coal.

The project received environmental clearance in August 2014.

As of December 2016, there is no information on the project available on the JK Organization website or in the Broad Status Report. It appears to be abandoned.
