Background on Plant

An environmental impact assessment was released for the 1,320 power station by Era Infra in 2010. The company says the coal supply will be 6.33 million metric tons per year, sourced from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited by rail.

However, as of 2014 the project has yet to receive environmental clearance, and may have been cancelled.
