Background

The power station is owned and operated by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company, a publicly-owned generation utility formed in 2009 following the restructuring of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board. The power station comprises four 210 MW units:[1][2][3]

  • 210 MW - 1984
  • 210 MW - 1985
  • 210 MW - 1986

Korba West Extension

The Korba West Extension is a 500 MW expansion of the existing power station,[4] though on a site a little over one km to the west of the existing plant. It was commissioned in March 2013.[5]
