Background

In 2007 E.ON AG was in talks with Czech Coal Group (Mostecka Uhelna AS) to build a 2 billion euro, 1200 MW power plant in Czech Republic. Under the proposed agreement, Mostecka would deliver coal for the plant, while E.ON would supply technology for its operation.[1]

Coal would be supplied by the nearby Vrsany coal mine, operated by the coal mining company Vrsanska uhelna a.s., a subsidiary of Czech Coal Group.[2]

As of 2010 the plant and its supply went into a contractual dispute,[3] and the plant was ultimately denied the transmission capacity required for the power station.[4]
