Pathfinder International, a non-profit organization, was originally incorporated as The Pathfinder Fund in 1957.

"Its pioneering family planning work, however, was begun decades earlier in the late 1920s by its founder, Dr. Clarence Gamble, who supported efforts to introduce contraception to women and couples in the United States and 60 other countries. Pathfinder first received federal assistance for its work in the 1960s when the United States Government began official support for international family planning.
"Today, the organization manages a broad range of financial support from the United States, European governments, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), foundations, and private donations." [1]
