Philip Pillsbury, Jr. is a philanthropist and career Foreign Service Officer who "has served in the Foreign Service around the world, including Spain, Italy, Mali, Madagascar, Congo (then Zaire), Iran, and Italy—among many other countries. Pillsbury retired as Deputy Director of the Office of Cultural Resources in 1990 through the United States Information Agency. During his tenure in USIA, Pillsbury received several awards for his service, including the Meritorious Honor Award both for his work in Mali.“ [1]
