The U.S. economy is staggering but the bankers on Wall Street are doing just fine. The taxpayer bailout of over $2 trillion in direct support and loans has put Wall Street back on its feet. Due to our generosity, Wall Street financial firms handed out $140 billion in bonuses in 2009, yet they are still not lending at a sufficient rate to aid the economic recovery. As policymakers in Congress tackle financial-sector reforms and job creation programs, Wall Street has fielded over 1,500 lobbyists to defeat reform and maintain the status quo.
