Background

According to project proponent Essar Energy, the power station will comprise four 30 MW units and supply power to Essar Steel. As of May 2014 the project is under construction.

The first unit was commissioned in February 2015.

The second unit was completed in September 2016.

In August 2017 it was reported that Essar was developing the remaining 2×30 MW units of the 120 MW Paradip power project.
