Lieutenant General Ronald L. Burgess, Jr., of Alabama, was designated June 6, 2006, by President George W. Bush to be Acting Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Burgess replaces Lt. Gen. Michael V. Hayden, now Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
