Background on Plant

Siping-1

Siping-1 power station, originally a joint venture between Chueng Kong Infrastructure and CPI, is a three-unit 200 MW power station that went into operation in 1996 to 1999.[1]

Siping-2

Siping-2 power station is a 2 x 350 MW coal plant under development near Siping-1. Unit 1 began construction in 2008, was permitted in 2009, completed the trial operation in 2010, but was not put into commercial operation until 2013.[2] Unit 2 is still seeking environmental clearance.[3]

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. For details, see China's 2016 Restrictions on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity.

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[4]
