The complex "includes six underground room and pillar mines, one surface mine, a highwall miner and a preparation plant. Two of the underground mines transport coal via underground conveyor system to the Long Fork Resource Group for processing and shipment, and the remainder of the underground mines transport production via underground conveyor system or truck to Sidney’s preparation plant. A portion of the coal from Sidney’s preparation plant and coal from the surface mines are trucked to the New Ridge Resource Group for loading into railroad cars. Sidney’s preparation plant has a capacity of 1,500 tons per hour. The rail loading facility at the preparation plant serves customers on the Norfolk Southern rail system with unit trains of up to 140 railcars."<ref>Massey Energy, [http://www.secinfo.com/d14Rr.t3.htm#1stPage "Massey Energy 2008 10K"], SEC Info, February 29, 2008.</ref>
