'''The Francisco Mining Complex''' is a surface mining and an underground mining operation in Gibson County near Francisco, Indiana, owned by [[Peabody Energy]]. The Francisco underground mine opened in 2003 and shipped 1.5 million tons of coal in 2008. The operation's workforce of 135 continuous miners and battery coal haulers work in two split-air supersections, each section ventilated by a separate slit of air.
The Francisco surface mine opened in 1996 and in 2008 shipped 1.9 million tons of coal. The surface mine has a workforce of 140, which operates two truck and shovel fleets on two 10-hour shifts per day, seven days a week year round.
Coal from the Complex is processed at a 650 ton-per-hour heavy media preparation plant.<ref>[http://www.peabodyenergy.com/Media/factsheets/Francisco.asp "Francisco Mine"] Peabody Energy Website, October 2009</ref>
