According to a 2013 Executive Summary of the project, Vemavaram power station would require 700 acres of land, which are currently private lands held by large families. The coal source would be based on a 70:30 ratio of domestic and imported coal dependent on supply from [[Coal India]]; if supply is not available, all coal would be imported.
