Background on Plant

The project was initially proposed by the Aban Group and later taken over by NSL Group. Coal would be imported from Indonesia (30%), and domestic. Environmental clearance was obtained in 2013.

As of December 2016 the project is not listed as under construction. As of May 2017, with no progress in over four years, the project appears to be abandoned.
