Background on Plant

The project was initially proposed by the Aban Group and later taken over by NSL Group. Coal would be imported from Indonesia (30%), and domestic.[1] Environmental clearance was obtained in 2013.[2]

As of December 2016 the project is not listed as under construction.[3][4] As of May 2017, with no progress in over four years, the project appears to be abandoned.
