A rhetoric mouthpiece for the ultra-right, affiliated with the American Enterprise Institute and George Washington University's Olin-funded political science department, where he held the ominous title "director of the program on transitions to democracy." Menges has a penchant for making laughable assertions in public, so has never achieved a high profile, but is occassionally called on to appear on right-wing programs as a resident "expert," thanks to his academic affiliations (though his credentials in academia are nonexistent).
