Title of this page is incorrect. The "Federal Reserve Corporation" is a pejorative name used by the critics of the Fed. The proper name is the Federal Reserve System which includes the Federal Reserve Board and the twelve Federal Reserve Banks. The Federal Reserve Board is a federal agency, not a federal corporation like the FDIC. The twelve Federal Reserve Banks are both private corporations and federal instrumentalities. All profits made by the Federal Reserve Banks go to the US Treasury.
