I reverted the $ sign back to £ -- it is a part of the quote and as it was in a UK publication it gave the amount in £. It would be nice to add the US$ amount in a bracketed sentence after the quotation but I couldn't find the original contribution record. --Bob Burton 18:52, 22 Sep 2004 (EDT)

While the £ sign is in the original quote, I think that was probably an error and $2,000 is the actual limit under U.S. law. Perhaps the thing to do is put a "[sic]" inside the quote. --Sheldon Rampton 12:10, 27 Sep 2004 (EDT)
