Taylor Energy Center, Alternative Proposal
{{#Badges: CoalSwarm}} In 2006, Southern Power Company (a subsidiary of Southern Company) proposed to build a 787 MW supercritical coal plant at the Taylor Energy Center in Taylor County, Florida.[1] This bid was submitted as part of a process required by Florida’s Power Plant Siting Act, and was used to determine the need and economic viability of the Taylor Energy Center proposed by JEA, Florida Municipal Power Agency, City of Tallahassee, and Reedy Creek Improvement.[2] These four owners of the Taylor Energy Center determined that Southern Power Company’s proposal was not economically competitive as an alternative to the Taylor Energy Center plan.[3]
