Background on Plant

PEL Power received environmental clearance for the 1,050 MW coal-fired power station in 2010. According to PEL Power's website, the three units have a planned commissioning date by the end of 2015.[1]

The project reported the following steps toward development:[1]

  • Indigenous Coal linkage in place.
  • FSA for Indonesian Coal under finalization.
  • Captive Jetty for Coal.
  • Tender Documents under finalization.
  • Bids for Jetty, External CHP and Intake/Outfall System will be floated.
  • Drawal of sea water as approved by TNMB.

The company solicited bids in 2010.[2] However, as of April 2015 there is no evidence that the project has progressed since late 2010, and it appears that it has been abandoned.
