The JMG Foundation is a U.K.-based organization which funds innovated environmental advocacy campaigns. Founded by Ben Goldsmith and Jon Cracknell, Goldsmith describes JMG's mission as specializing in "environmental grant-making, this often leads us to support quite spiky work – campaigning and hard-hitting advocacy – which prompts governments or business to move further, and faster, towards a truly sustainable course." Goldsmith states that the organization's success comes from its flexibility as it is not a formal registered charitable foundation, which enables it to channel money towards activities and projects that don't duplicated those which can raise support directly from traditional public or corporate funding sources.[1]

Goldsmith, who is also the founder of cleantech investment fund WHEB Ventures and The Environmental Funder's Network, notes the organization was named for his father, the late Sir James Goldsmith, stating that "effective philanthropy is about filling in the gaps."[2]
