Biographical Information
"Tom Schievelbein is the chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of The Brink's Company, a global leader in security-related services. He was elected to the positions in June 2012 after serving as interim president and CEO since December 2011. He previously served as president of Northrop Grumman Newport News and as a member of the Northrop Grumman Corporate Policy Council from November 2001 until his retirement in November 2004.
"He was chief operating officer of Newport News Shipbuilding Inc. from 1995 until 2001 and was responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines. His experience includes the Virginia-class submarine program, the CVN-76, CVN-77 and CVN-21 aircraft carrier programs, aircraft carrier overhaul and refueling, submarine fleet maintenance, commercial and naval ship repair and business development.
"Mr. Schievelbein is the lead director of New York Life Insurance Co., where he has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2006, and a member of the Board of Directors of McDermott International Inc., where he chairs the Compensation Committee. He is a past member of the Secretary of the Navy's Advisory Panel. Mr. Schievelbein received his bachelor's degree in marine engineering from the United States Naval Academy and his master's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Virginia."[1]
